# Look up a Web3 term in the glossary

> Read a plain-language definition of a Web3 term and see where that concept applies on Dapping.

The glossary at [dapp.ing/glossary](https://dapp.ing/glossary) defines 43 Web3 terms in plain language, written for people who build rather than for people who trade.

## What is in it

The list runs from the vocabulary you meet on a first day, such as wallet, gas, token, and block explorer, through the terms that decide whether a project is worth your time, such as smart-contract audit, multisig, and tokenomics. It also covers the words Dapping itself uses, including attestation, proof page, and Karma, and the language of opportunities: grant, bounty, hackathon, and accelerator.

## How to read an entry

1. Open [the glossary index](https://dapp.ing/glossary) and select a term. Each entry in the index carries its short definition, so you can often stop there.
2. Read the **Definition** paragraph at the top of the term page. It is the short, self-contained answer.
3. Read **In practice** for how the concept shows up in real work, including what an experienced builder checks before trusting it.
4. Follow the links under the term's own heading. Every entry points into at least two live Dapping surfaces, so a definition leads to the dApps, jobs, grants, or bounties it describes.
5. Use **Related terms** at the foot of the page to move to the neighbouring concepts.

Where a term has other common spellings or an acronym, they are listed under **Also called** beneath the title, so a search for either form finds the same entry.

## Where the definitions come from

The glossary is a fixed editorial set written and maintained by Dapping. It is not user submitted, not generated from listings, and not open to contributions. That is deliberate: a definition is only useful if it stays stable enough to cite. If an entry is wrong or out of date, report it as a correction.
